RADIO EUROPE (2022)Director: Maite Bengsch
Producer: Francesca Escarraga After the borders of the European Union were shut, inhabitants of its member states share their diverse perspectives on the concept of home, cultural identity, and socio-economic policies that impact their lives. The documentary film Radio Europe searches for cohesion in the European Union and takes a look at people from the different member states. In the film, we get to know Fabrice, a refugee from Cameroon living in Italy, Lucy, a South Korean food vendor living in Denmark, and Francesco, a millionaire from Italy, among others. These people from all walks of life share their perspectives on the European Union and their thoughts on home and identity. These exciting and diverse perspectives create a mosaic-like film and an intercultural dialogue between the protagonists. This story aims to give the differently-abled community a voice, to provide appropriate representation on screen, and to simply celebrate their lives and the people who unconditionally love and support them every step of the way. Script Consultant & Script Supervisor: Francesca Escarraga An 8-year-old boy begins to lose his best friend, an elderly lady, as her memories fade away to Alzheimer's. Determined to help, he embarks on a journey to rekindle the memories of their friendship. The film explores the friendship of a caregiver’s son, Dylan, who befriends an elderly woman with dementia, Mrs. Brooks. Through their shared experiences, they are able to bring out each other’s bliss, wisdom, humor, and thirst for life. When Dylan realizes that Mrs.Brooks's memory is deteriorating, he goes out of his way to ensure that their special bond is never forgotten. He tries his best to be a reminder of her past and the result is a mix of willpower, love, and hope. Script Consultant: Francesca Escarraga An interview with a mysterious art maven turns into a psychedelic journey to the border between the real and illusory worlds. Aurora, columnist for "The Daily Dreamer," meets with legendary artist "M" to discuss the phenomenon of sleeping experience. Following the theory of famous Soviet architect Konstantin Melnikov that lighting, sounds, and smells affect the quality of dreams, M. creates special "decorations" for his wealthy clients, stimulating the imagination during sleep. The interview takes place during a photo session for M.'s new project, "The Golden Dream of Eternal Beauty." The mysterious atmosphere of the photo session, during which the interview takes place, and models' unearthly appearances produces a hypnotic effect on Aurora, and the interview turns into a psychedelic journey to the border between the real and the illusory worlds. |
